Tab View in InfoPath 2007 and Forms Server

Tags:

Today, my colleague Martin called me and told me that one of his customers asked him why it isn’t possible to add a “tabbed” view to Infopath 2007 like in other Applications (like Lotus Notes). So I remembered an approach for that, I designed half a year ago to reduce the complexity of an InfoPath Form.

It’s really easy – just divide the fields on different view pages and place a group of hidden buttons on top of every page:

View 1:

View 2:

View 3:

An now here comes the magic trick – add a table with 3 borderless Buttons on top of each view. Every Button switches to the corresponding view:

Make them colorful and borderless:

and add the rule to the switching event:

That’s it – you can download the complete sample here http://www.sharepointusergroup.at/community/Pallierer/Downloads/Tabed%20View%20Sample.xsn

Have fun
